More than two years ago, the team spirit expanded from just working together to doing sport together, with the Memmert triathlon relay. Ralf Achtnicht, Peter Krieger and Ronald Mühe attracted more and more Memmert employees who were keen on running, walking or swimming.
On 31st July 2008, the first MEMMERT-MAN was then ready to start. They had to swim 300 metres on the Kleiner Rothsee, before cycling for eight kilometres and completing the after-work fitness programme by running the last two kilometres.
But this evening was not about winning, only about beating your inner daemon, and having fun together.
At the end, four individual starters and five relay teams of three changed places on the rostrum and were given Bennie Lindberg's book, “Bis zum Äußersten [To the Limits]“ as a prize – a motivation for anyone who wants to know what it feels like to push yourself to your personal limits. Even if the distance of a gigathlon, described by the Finn in his book, and which he mastered some years ago, and the route of the MEMMERT-MAN are worlds apart, everyone was pleased and in a good mood on this warm summer evening after the sport was finished and people sat together, celebrating for quite a while in the beergarden.
Reason enough for Christiane Riefler-Karpa to offer her employees a professional training programme led by Bennie Lindberg, a former world-class triathlete.
They train once or twice per week, motivated and technically coached by Lindberg, accumulating energy and fitness for their working day.
