A weighing cell can perform various tasks in vacuum. In addition to precise dosage of materials, it is used above all to determine the moisture content of a wide range of materials.
For a joint project with a customer, a Memmert vacuum drying oven VO 400 was equipped with a weighing cell to determine the core humidity of water-saturated building rubble. Core humidity refers to the increase in mass of oven-dried building material, such as tiles, after water has penetrated accessible cavities. By drying in vacuum, the humidity content can be determined within a few hours from the loss in weight.
