Can the VO vacuum drying oven be connected to a central vacuum unit?
Yes, of course this is possible. The final vacuum value that can be achieved depends on the maximum achievable vacuum value for this unit.
Which pumps can be used to operate the VO vacuum oven?
Generally speaking, any pump can be used (remember the permissible final vacuum of Memmert VO appliances: 0.01mbar). But to make full use of the performance of the vacuum drying oven, the pumping capacity of the pump should not be lower than that of the vacuum pump (KNF) recommended by us. In addition, the latter has a rinsing function with which the membranes can be rinsed (automatically) by the electronic vacuum controller. If you choose to use the optional pump module, this vacuum pump can be additionally switched off via the vacuum controller of the VO appliance when a programmed final vacuum has been reached. This will extend the pump’s life.
How does the heating system of the VO vacuum oven function?
Because air as the thermal conductivity medium is not present in a vacuum, direct contact between the heating elements and the load is absolutely essential. In the Memmert vacuum drying oven, the heating element is vulcanised onto the underside of the stainless steel or aluminium thermal shelves and protected from mechanical damage by a cover plate. The sensor necessary to measure the temperature is ideally located close to the chamber load, between the thermal shelf and the heating mat.
