Memmert is project partner of Nexygen®

In the future the networking of intelligent devices will change the laboratory sector, giving rise to the idea of networking the development of laboratory equipment and services. The manufacturers Memmert, Köttermann, Sartorius, Hirschmann and 2mag have founded an interdisciplinary team to tackle this challenge.

On the way to laboratory 4.0

Since the early 70s, the influence digitisation has on our private and working lives has been increasing steadily. A lot of experts claim that the economy is already in the middle of the next industrial revolution. In the future, the "Internet of things" will get linked to the real world and support people throughout their day-to-day routine. Thanks to miniature computers, machines, household appliances, vehicles, packaging or even clothing can control themselves without human intervention and communicate with each other online.

Cross-company cooperation

The idea behind Nexygen® is to consider the entire analysis process, from sample preparation to disposal and documentation, when developing products. The experts of the individual development departments must complement and inspire each other to fulfil the complex customer requirements of the future. Christiane Riefler-Karpa, managing director at Memmert, is convinced that the approach of networking to the customer's benefit will be a great contribution to making processes in the laboratory more efficient, safe and sustainable.

Nexygen live at the Achema

The initial approaches of the "Next Generation Lab" are shown for the first time during the Achema 2015. For example, surfaces will be able to perform tasks such as stirring, heating, cooling and weighing and laboratory drawers will open with gesture control. The Nexygen stand A7 is in the direct vicinity of the Memmert stand D7 in hall 4.1. For more information, visit  www.nexygen.de.
