Memmert receives iF product design award

Memmert receives the "Oscar" of the international design awards. The Memmert Generation 2012 was by a jury of 49 renowned design experts awarded the iF product design award 2013 in the category of medicine/health care. The entire Memmert team is thrilled about the award since it proves that their uncompromising focus on quality and the needs of the customers is the right approach.

Head of research and development Ralf Achtnicht was happy and of course proud when he accepted the iF product design award certificate for the Generation 2012. The award was also an acknowledgement for the many working hours and the effort of the entire Memmert team in the past year. 4,352 participants from 51 countries applied for the three main categories: product design, communication design and packaging design. In November 2012, 49 international Jury members voted for the most outstanding design achievements of the year and about 2,000 guests celebrated the 981 award winners at the glamorous award night at the impressing BMW Welt in Munich.

Groundbreaking design concept in Generation 2012

Distinctive, unique design, intuitive and easy to operate, vibration-free opening and closing of the appliances and forward compatible communication features; these were the guidelines the Memmert management gave the R&D department as the most crucial ones for the development of the new generation of appliances. A groundbreaking design concept was created by the time of the market launch in 2012 on the occasion of the Achema trade fair in 2012 in cooperation with Munich design agency OXXID. This concept has now received the iF product design award 2013 and has therefore found acceptance beyond the laboratory appliance market.

Managing director Christiane Riefler-Karpa was delighted about the award. “The iF design award proves our strategy of uncompromising quality and customer orientation was right. With modern features such as intuitive operation of the touch screen and a clear design, the Generation 2012 sets a standard for the entire market for heating ovens, incubators and climate chambers. At the same time, the unmistakeable brand character of the appliances that are consistently manufactured using high quality stainless steel has successfully been transferred into the future.”

Exhibitions around the topic of the iF design award

All 981 awarded products will be shown at the CeBIT in Hanover March 5 to 9, 2013, and at the iF design exhibition at HafenCity in Hamburg starting July 2013. In the year of 1954, the iF International Forum Design held the annual design competition “iF award” for the first time. Today, almost 60 years later, some 5,000 companies, design and advertising agencies apply every year to win one of the desired awards in the categories product design, communication design and packaging design. The organisation sees its main task in raising the public awareness of design and improving the relations between design and the economy.
