What is important to Memmert as an internationally active company with strong regional ties is to support local sporting events and sports clubs. Managing director Christiane Riefler-Karpa, who is an enthusiastic triathlete herself, has for many years supported the triathlon section of the local club TSG Roth 08, which is also organiser of the triathlon festival on June 29 and 30, 2013. “These days, it is getting increasingly difficult to inspire children and young people to do sports outdoors.” Sports clubs, with their wide range of activities offered, are indispensable to our society and luckily, there are still people who do voluntary work as coaches or instructors in their free time. “Of course, we as a company want to contribute as well,” says Memmert’s managing director regarding the involvement in sports sponsorship.
Many of our athletic colleagues lost their hearts to the triathlon sport in this event. The distances, which are definitely demanding but still manageable for hobby athletes, make it appealing to start the sport here. Benedikt Spangenberg was bitten by the triathlon bug by taking part in the relay team last year. This year, he will be an individual starter in all 3 disciplines in the short distance: 1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running. The colleagues from the customer service department, Harald von Blumenthal and Peter Englisch, also celebrated their competition premieres here and have since then represented the Memmert team in different sporting events each year. Even managing director Christiane Riefler-Karpa, “Iron Lady” in the long distance, started at the Rothsee for the first time and has been a regular at the starting line for 5 years.
Memmert is looking forward to cooperating with TSG Roth in the next 3 years. Both the preparations and the training are running at full speed in order to make the MEMMERT Rothsee triathlon a successful and exciting event for all those participating – athletes, helpers and spectators.
