Memmert Summer barbecue 2011

A good time was had by all at this year's Memmert summer barbecue despite almost arctic temperatures.

Unfortunately, there had been one important detail, Matthias Grosser, the party planner of this year’s Memmert summer barbecure, could not influence: the weather. Although the temperatures called for a hot punch instead of a barbecue, the Memmertians did not lose their humour and kept themselves warm with sports and table football competitions.

The afternoon started with the now traditional football match, which ended without major bruises, despite fully committed players. The next highlight was a short relay race: First, the contestants had to run one lap of about 1 km around the production hall, then they had to complete one lap by bike around the company premises and, finally, abd finally run a second lap around the production hall. While four of the teams had three contestants each, triathlon ace Matthias Grosser took the opportunity for a brief warm-up and went into the race without a team. His competitors took it with humour that he nevertheless finished first without losing sweat.

After the winners had been awarded, the pleasant part of the afternoon could finally begin: Everybody agreed that the barbecue was just delicious, and refreshments included beer from the region as well as non-alcoholic beverages. Much&More from Seligenporten helped to set the mood for a party, when they entertained their audience with a well chosen mix of Rock, Disco and German cult pop songs and even managed to lure some courageous listeners to the dance floor.
