Team Memmert achieves historic results in Berlin

At the B2RUN in Nuremberg, Team Memmert was surprisingly better than manufacturers of sports equipment such as Puma SE and Adidas AG and major companies such as Schaeffler or Siemens AG. This made participation in the big final with crossing the finish line in the Berlin Olympic stadium possible. There, the best runners out of more than a hundred thousand met to determine the German B2RUN champion.

The runners of the supposed "small" medium-sized family company from Schwabach wanted to be on the winner's podium and in the end did not only baffle all other participants, but even themselves with an unexpected dominance. With a lead of more than 6 minutes, the five Memmert runners won the team title and can now proudly call themselves German B2RUN champions for one year. The team of the default winners from Deutsche Post AG had to settle for a second place this year, without a chance to win and were closely followed by the RUNNERS POINT chain store team, who came in third.

Sebastian Reinwand and Joseph Katib provided the icing on the cake with an impressive double win in the individual ranking although it was anything but granted since Moritz Waldmann, a German 1,500 meter champion and participant of the European championship 2010 was also at the start. The two Memmert runners were forced to be fast from the start if they wanted a chance against the middle-distance runner who is known to be capable of a strong spurt. The end result was Reinwand‘s course record of 17 minutes and 37 seconds for the 6 km. His team colleague followed with 17 minutes and 44 seconds and Waldmann came in third with 17 minutes and 57 seconds. Michael Batz outdid himself and improved his Nuremberg time by one minute to 18 minutes 26 seconds. He outdistanced many competitors who were thought to be better and came in 5th place. Matthias Grosser also improved considerably by 30 seconds compared to the Nuremberg B2RUN and passed a satisfactory test for the coming Ironman 70.3 world championship in Las Vegas. Sven Erhardt, candidate for the state parliament, could not take his place in the team due to work-related reasons but Florian Fink did an excellent job filling in for him.

The German B2RUN champion Felicity Milton from the Adidas AG, who was already successful in Nuremberg, crossed the finish line first amongst the women. In the end, five men and women from the Nuremberg metropolitan region worthily represented it in Berlin, causing a sensation.
