Schwabach city run 2013 A day full of records

Memmert's first kids run promoting young athletes had a record number of registrations for the largest annual running event in Schwabach and a new course record made by Team Memmert at the half marathon. And all this so shortly before the end of the season. What more could we want?!

Memmert Kids run

As a company based in Schwabach it goes without saying that we also support the largest running event in our home town. Last Sunday, the starting signal sounded for the Memmert kids run (children up to 7 years), which was one of 6 runs that day. With roughly 120 registrations, the interest was higher than ever before. Numerous nursery schools and youth clubs from the entire region put together teams since not only the fastest little ones were awarded with prizes, cinema vouchers and medals but also the largest team. After the adults had started at the Königsplatz in Schwabach for the 21.1 km long half marathon, the little offspring runners had enough time to complete their laps with a total of 400 meters in the town centre.

These days, it is getting increasingly difficult to inspire children and young people to do sports outdoors. Sports clubs with their variety of activities and events such as the Schwabach city run are indispensable in our society. We as a company want to contribute to this and were very happy about the great interest. Therefore, managing director Christiane Riefler-Karpa insisted on giving the certificate to each child in person.

Team Memmert - Crossing the finish line hand in hand

Our own Sebastian Reinwand lived up to his role as hands-down favourite when running the “golden miles” of the 21.1 km long half marathon course. Together with his team colleagues and current training partner Joseph Katib he crossed the finish arch after 1 hour, 9 minutes and 27 seconds. This was his dress rehearsal, so to speak, since the exceptional talent Sebastian Reinwand will have his first marathon in three weeks.

It was also a record day for Benedikt Spangenberg. He beat his personal half marathon best by 9 minutes and crossed the finish line as number 30 of approximately 200 runners. He quickly left his colleagues Ralf Achtnicht and Harald von Blumenthal behind but welcomed them warmly at the finish line.
