What is hot air sterilisation? Steriliser S makes use of dry sterilisation to ensure laboratory equipment and devices are sterilized. With this method, hot air, devoid of water vapor or moisture, makes sure the device is sterile without needing risk prone disinfection methods. Each Memmert hot air steriliser S is classified as class IIb medical device. Memmert is bringing medical devices of class IIb into circulation according to MDD 93/42/EEC until 26 May 2024 according to the transitional provisions by the (EU) 2017/745 article 120 (2).

Importance of hot air sterilisation

  • Disinfection of appliances and instruments is not sufficient in medicine and research. Only hot air sterilisation provides sufficient protection.
  • Precisely maintaining the heat sterilisation time and the termination of even the most resistant microorganisms. These are guaranteed at all times, irrespective of the hot air sterilisation load and chamber volume.
  • For the special application of depyrogenisation, the hot air Steriliser S is absolutely ideal as an example of hot air sterilisation.

How hot air sterilisers work

  • The primary method of heat use comes via natural convection or forced air circulation N/F and captures the heart of what is heat sterlization
  • The SetpointWAIT function ensures that the program is only continued when the setpoint hot air sterilisation temperature has been reached
  • PT100 temperature sensors can be added where hot air sterilisation begins when the setpoint temperature has been reached at all measurement points – that is, in the load
