Energy efficiency and comfort in buildings depend to a large degree on the technology with which temperature, air quality, air humidity or brightness can be precisely measured and automatically adjusted. Modern building technology controls the temperature down to tenths of a degree, humidity sensors measure with a precision of below ± 2 % rh. In order that this precision is kept over many years, all sensors of the Nuremberg company S+S Regeltechnik are micro-processor-controlled and have a multifunctional design. All measuring transducers can be adjusted customer-specifically and manually calibrated or readjusted at their later site of operation.
Of course, the sensors at S+S Regeltechnik are already finely adjusted before shipment. During adjustment, the sensitive appliances are subject to a defined and constant environment for several hours. In this process, the internal specifications for adjusting the temperature and humidity sensors are truly a challenge for the Memmert constant climate chamber in terms of homogeneity and temperature stability: the temperature deviation over time and throughout the whole chamber may be no more than ± 0.2 K and humidity fluctuation in time may only be a maximum of 1 %.
The main working points for the adjustment of the sensors lie at 25 °C and 50 % rh. In addition, further tests at various combinations of temperature and humidity between 15 and 40 °C and 30 and 70 % rh are common. Comparison of measurement parameters is done using external, calibrated reference equipment. Apart from its outstanding values in temperature deviation over time and throughout the whole interior, the Memmert constant climate chamber HPP additionally convinces managing director Tino Schulze and his team due to the fact that it takes up little space and works in an energy-saving manner although it has such a large interior.
