Air change rate chamber
Defined air conditions.
Measured. Documented. Traceable.
Designed for the defined air conditions required by ISO 188:2023 Method D and DIN 53508:2024-03 Method D - with device-specific measurement of the air change rate and documented evidence of the airflow conditions.
Reliable ageing tests start with the right conditions
Why it is matters
Plastic, rubber and elastomer components can change significantly when exposed to elevated temperatures over time. For manufacturers and testing laboratories, the challenge is not simply to heat a test piece, but to create stable and reproducible conditions that make ageing behaviour comparable and easier to document.
For rubber and elastomer ageing tests performed according to ISO 188:2023 Method D or DIN 53508:2024-03 Method D, temperature alone is not enough. Air change rate and air speed are also defined test parameters - and a conventional forced-air oven is not automatically designed to provide and document these conditions.
Designed for defined air conditions
The Memmert UFACR-D translates the requirements of ISO 188:2023 Method D and DIN 53508:2024-03 Method D into a purpose-engineered chamber concept. Its interior configuration guides the airflow through the chamber, creating the defined air change rate and air speed conditions required for reproducible testing.
Key Performance Features
01 Developed for Method D
Designed for thermal ageing tests according to ISO 188:2023 Method D and DIN 53508:2024-03 Method D.
02 Purpose-engineered interior
Guides the airflow through the chamber to create the defined air conditions required for Method D.
03 Defined air change rate
ISO 188:2023 Method D requires more than 30 air changes per hour; DIN 53508:2024-03 Method D requires at least 30 air changes per hour. The chamber design is engineered accordingly.
04 Defined air speed
Method D specifies an air speed of 0.25 to 3.0 m/s at the test pieces.
05 Documented evidence
Standard documentation includes a device-specific test certificate for the air change rate and a separate air flow certificate.
Traceable test conditions
Documentation is an important part of reliable testing.
Device-specific air change rate
Before delivery, the air change rate of every UFACR-D is measured and documented in a device-specific test certificate. This provides a clear record of the measured value for the individual unit.
Documented air flow
A separate air flow certificate provides evidence of the defined airflow conditions based on a device type identical in design.
Calibration certificate
A calibration certificate completes the documentation package and supports quality management, audits and technical traceability.
Common Application
The Memmert UFACR-D is designed for thermal ageing applications in materials testing, quality assurance, and research and development. It provides the defined air change rate and air speed conditions required by ISO 188:2023 Method D and DIN 53508:2024-03 Method D.
From quality control and product approval to evaluating the ageing behaviour of plastic components and the ageing resistance of rubber and elastomer materials, the UFACR-D supports reliable testing throughout materials and product development.
